Mary Summers has a love of nature and has always enjoyed spending time outdoors. She has shared the wonder of nature’s offerings with her husband, outdoor photographer Kerry Drager, for almost a quarter of a century. He has taught her the importance of capturing scenes in "beautiful light" - early dawn and late in the day. He has also taught her the elements of a good design as he shared his views through his camera lens.

Her cousin, Oregon landscape artist Ann Ruttan, encouraged her to "follow the brush" and take up oil painting. With Ann’s encouragement and instruction, Mary Summers has started an exciting journey - capturing the rich colors and textures of the landscapes around her.
